Dr. Chia Chee Fen joined KDU College as Director of Academic Affairs in February 2002. Starting off as a physics teacher, she taught in government schools for 11 years and was later attached as a Lecturer with the Specialist Teacher Training Institution for 7 years. Prior to joining KDU College, she was the Principal & Curriculum Director of the Wings of Creativity, a private education institution in Kuala Lumpur.
Dr. Chia graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with a Bachelor of Science (2nd Class Upper Hons) majoring in Physics in 1983. She subsequently graduated from University of Malaya with a Diploma in Education in 1983, Master in Education (specializing in Teaching of Science and Mathematics) in 1989 and Ph.D (specializing in the Enhancement of Creativity) in 1998.
She has won two academic awards and has seven publications, primary in the areas of Mathematics, Physics and Creativity.
As Director of Academic Affairs, Dr. Chia introduced new and innovative curriculum, and further enhanced the teaching quality of KDU College. She also substantially contributed to the success of Sekolah Sri KDU, when she was seconded to the private smart school under the KDU badge. At Sri KDU, Dr. Chia played the pivotal role of crafting and conducting training for all the teachers, especially on smart and creative teaching pedagogy.
In recognition of her contribution, Dr. Chia was promoted to the position of Principal Officer of KDU College in February 2003. With her leadership, KDU College is confident of realizing its vision of being the premier education provider that benefits society.
With the expected growth of KDU College and the prospect of expanding KDU substantially in the future, Dr. Chia has been promoted as Chief Executive Officer of KDU College Sdn Bhd to look after both campuses at Petaling Jaya and Penang.
