A Director / Chief Executive Officer of SENTRAL Technology College Penang, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree and PhD in Biology from the University of Science Malaysia, Penang. She spent 14 years as a research scientist at the Institute of Medical Research, Kuala Lumpur where she researched on vectors of tropical diseases specialising in filariasis and malaria. During this time she was awarded the National Certificate of Excellence in Service in 1990 and the Young Scientist Award in 1991 for her research contribution in the field of tropical medicine.
Dr. Chiang has also presented research papers for the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Ministry of Health, Malaysia from 1978 to 1992. She was previously an advisor for the post-graduate Medical Entomology research programmes in a local university from 1989 to 1992. She has been involved in Malaysian Private Education since June 1992, when she was appointed the Principal of a private college in Penang. She also served as an Executive Director of a Public Listed Education Group from 1994 to 1997. Her responsibilities then included the direct supervision of higher learning in Malaysia, providing courses ranging from certificate, diploma and professional levels, and also the setting up of diploma and degree programmes from universities in United Kingdom and Australia.
