Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT)
The SAT is a general test of verbal and mathematical reasoning produced by the College Board and is used for admission purposes. The SAT has significantly different tests measuring different skills. This test is optional and students are required to ascertain whether the colleges or universities they wish to transfer to require such score as support of their admission eligibility.
The new SAT Reasoning Test was administered for the first time on March 12, 2005 in the United States.
SAT Reasoning Test (formerly SAT I: Reasoning Test)
Duration: 3 hours and 45 minutes
It measures critical reading, mathematical reasoning, and writing skills which students have developed over time to be successful academically. The new SAT is better aligned with current curriculum and institutional practices in high schools and colleges. By including a third measure of skills, writing, the SAT reinforces the importance of writing throughout a student's education and will help colleges to make better admissions and placement decisions.
Nearly every college in America accepts the SAT or Subject Tests as a part of its admissions process.
