From LAN to MQA – Strengthening the Malaysian Higher Education Quality Assurance System 27 Nov 2007
The National Accreditation Board or Lembaga Akreditasi Negara (LAN) was established on 15 May 1997. LAN is a quality assurance body which is responsible for governing the standard and quality of higher education offered by private higher educational institutions (PHEI).
The role of LAN is to process applications from PHEIs on the programmes they wish to offer. Based on the merits of the course, LAN will then make recommendations as to whether to approve or reject the application. »More

Universities will be given more autonomy by the Government in a move to transform the face of higher education.
But this will be accompanied by constant monitoring of their performance through an independent audit committee set up under the Higher Education Ministry.
The ultimate objective is the creation of world-class institutions in the country, centres of academic excellence known as apex universities.

Special Briefing for IPTS that Obtained KHEDN Approval for the Recruitment of International Students 10 Aug 2007
A special briefing was held on 28th June 2007 at Putrajaya Marriott Hotel for Private Institutions of Higher Education (IPTS) that obtained approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs (KHEDN) for the recruitment of international students.

Launching of I-Kad at LimKokWing University College 08 Jun 2007
The I-Kad handing over ceremony to international students was launched at LimKokWing University College at Cyberjaya on the 28th May 2007. The ceremony was grandly officiated by both ministers from Minister of Home Affairs, Y.B. Dato’ Seri Mohd Radzi Bin Sheikh Ahmad and Minister of Higher Education, Y.B. Dato’ Mustapa Bin Mohamed. Public Universities Open for Applications 15 Feb 2007
Public Universities offering Higher Education Programme for STPM leavers in 2006 for academic session 2007/2008 for Bachelor抯 Degree Programmes were out in the list. This year the Institutes of Public Higher Education (IPTA) involved nineteen universities with one new university.

MALAYSIA EDU-TOURISM (Edu-Tour Programme & Edu-Summer Programme) 03 May 2006
The Malaysia Edu-Tourism programme which consists of two parts, namely the Edu-tour Programme and the Edu-Summer Programme, was first launched in the Malaysia Education Promotion Centre in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam last year. This led onto the launching of the first leg of the Edu-Summer programme recently in Vietnam.
