Transport Services - StudyMalaysia.com

This field prepares or develops the abilities of individuals to plan, provide and maintain efficient transport systems and understand the interaction between transport systems and urban development. It includes the study of road transportation, aviation, ship operation and mail operation in areas such as evaluation of cost and capacity of transportation networks; planning, design and operation of transport facilities; public transport systems; traffic operations and control; and logistics and shipping.

What you will learn

Road motor vehicle operation

This sub-field includes the provision of transport services on land, such as cars, buses and trains. There are many occupations in this sub-field – from vehicle inspectors and driving instructors to drivers and maintenance workers. You may learn topics on vehicle safety, road safety, enforcement of motor vehicle laws and regulations, and the licensing of dealer and repair facilities.

Aviation

The aviation sub-field is divided into areas such as aeronautics, pilot training, and aviation mechanics. Aeronautics programmes prepare you for various aviation careers, including pilot and management positions. You will study flight regulations, aircraft systems and practical flying techniques. In contrast, aviation mechanics and maintenance teaches you how to inspect, repair and maintain helicopters and airplanes, as well as learn to troubleshoot avionics electronics.

Ship operation

In ship operation, you will learn how to operate and maintain vessels that take cargo and people over water, to and from domestic and foreign ports around the world. You will be trained to operate and maintain non-military vessels, follow the vessel’s strict chain of command, and ensure the safety of all people and cargo on board.

Mail operation

The sub-field of mail operation includes various stages like mail collection, postmarking, mail sorting, mail processing, mail carriers and mail delivery. You could work in one of many departments such as administrative support, consumer affairs, government affairs, delivery, engineering, facilities, global business, law enforcement, plant operations, transportation and logistics, and many more.
