New UMS Vice-Chancellor Named

KOTA KINABALU, 16 June 2017 – Sabah’s first anaesthetist specialist Prof Dr D. Kamarudin D. Mudin will be Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) vice-chancellor from June 18.

Dr Kamarudin, who is the deputy vice-chancellor (Academic and International), succeeds Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Harun Abdullah whose term expires on June 17.

Dr Kamarudin, 49, previously served as dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

The Kota Belud native served with the Health Ministry at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for 12 years before joining UMS in 2004.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman hailed the appointment, which was an­nounced by the Higher Educa­tion Ministry.
