INTI’s Pre-University Programmes Provide a Strong Foundation for Personal Development and Success

January 12, 2013 | Campus News

Innovative curriculum delivery, structured lessons and individual attention are the bases for the continued success of the pre-university programmes at INTI. Driven by highly motivated, qualified and experienced academics, the programmes prepare students to excel during the crucial transition period between the end of high school and the beginning of college or university.

“Students transitioning from high school to college can find themselves in a bit of a culture shock in terms of having to make their own decisions, taking responsibility for their future and being more independent in the classroom. At INTI we help to smoothen that transition by keeping their parents involved through parent-lecturer meetings. This will allow parents to have an idea of their child’s progress,” said Dr. Suseela Balakrishnan, Director, Centre for Pre-University Studies, INTI International College Subang (IICS).

With programmes like the Cambridge A Level, New South Wales Higher School Certificate, South Australian Matriculation and INTI’s homegrown foundation programmes, Foundation in Business Information Technology and Foundation in Science, students are provided sufficient choices to choose from in determining the path they wish to pursue.

INTI’s Cambridge A Level students have achieved an impressive passing rate of 97.7 percent in 2012, a success rate made possible by the dedicated lecturers who spend hours not only in the classroom but outside the classroom providing additional consultation to students who seek to excel in their academic pursuits.

“Our students do not attend additional tuition classes over and beyond their regular classes and consultation time as everything they need to know is provided for through our very dedicated and qualified lecturers. If our students require additional coaching, our lecturers are here to assist so there’s no need for additional tuition,” said Dr. Suseela.

Beyond the classroom environment, students are also highly encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities through the Pre-University Club, one of the most active clubs on campus comprising of pre-university students. The purpose of encouraging students to be involved in community service projects and other co-curricular activities is two pronged; to enhance students’ personal development and also to assist in their university applications.  Many of the top universities around the world value well-rounded students who are not only academically inclined but also active in co-curricular activities.

The high graduate employability rate of over 96% within 6 months of graduating across all INTI’s campuses reflects the grass-root efforts in preparing students for success from the moment they first step through INTI’s doors. Students of the pre-university programmes have also succeeded in gaining admission to some of the world’s most prestigious universities in the UK, USA, Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

INTI students benefit not only from the institution’s over 25 years of experience and strong track-record, but also from the global synergy and resources that Laureate International Universities provides. INTI is part of Laureate, the world’s largest private education network with a presence in 29 countries, with more than 60 accredited universities and 130 campuses, serving more than 740,000 students globally.
