Aim to be a young Chartered Accountant right after SPM!

Students pursuing the Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) programme at MAHSA University College now have a unique pathway to the professional Chartered Institute of Management Accounting (CIMA) qualification, made official with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) held between MAHSA University College and CIMA on the 14th of January, 2013.

MAHSA University College’s Pro-Chancellor and Executive Chairman, Prof. Datuk Dr. Hj. Mohamed Haniffa bin Hj. Abdullah, in his speech, introduced MAHSA University College’s Business Faculty and the four courses offered: the Foundation in Business, the Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours), the Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) and the Master of Business Administration.

“It is our tryst with destiny to move ahead in our endeavors to provide more choices in education for the youth of Malaysia and the world”, said the proud Pro-Chancellor when introducing the MoU signing to the audience. CIMA, a long-standing  body, has almost 200,00 members and students worldwide and MAHSA will now enable it’s students pursuing the Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) programme to sit of the CIMA gateway assessment during the final semester of their degree.

It is upon successful completion of this assessment that students will be granted from eleven out of the fifteen papers required for the CIMA examinations. The MAHSA student then will be entitled to proceed to continue the CIMA strategic level and T4 case study, sitting for only four of the remaining professional papers. Finally, upon completion of these papers along with three years of mentored service, they will then be eligible to apply for membership of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

Ms. Irene Teng, Regional Director for South East Asia and Australasia and all her team members were duly thanked during his speech for their contributions in pioneering this venture. The MAHSA Business Faculty and its faculty have given MAHSA an excellent start in its exciting new venture as MAHSA now begins to move from the familiar waters of Healthcare education to other realms of education in keeping with the ‘University’ status MAHSA recently obtained.
