October 17, 2013 | Campus News

TAR University College Faculty of Accountancy, Finance & Business (‘FAFB’) is highly-acclaimed and well-known for its focused approach in the delivery of professional business education, having produced top achievers in professional examinations for more than four decades.  This year, the Faculty continues its inimitable track record  with the latest addition to the string of high achievements deservedly attained by Lim Ee Chern, an Advanced Diploma in Commerce (Financial Accounting) student who topped in Malaysia for Paper P4 Advanced Financial Management in the June 2013 Examination.  He was also ranked 3rd in the world for that paper.

Ee Chern felt truly blessed to have accomplished such a feat.  “It was truly a dream come true for me.  I believe that dreams are achievable if you are willing to put in the extra effort, together with an unceasing strong determination and perseverance.  One’s desire to learn is far more important than just focusing on examination results.  The results will come naturally, if you work hard.”

Studying at TAR University College which has a stellar reputation in producing top ACCA high scorers every year, Ee Chern was quick to attest to the excellent teaching at TAR University College.  Recalling his preparation for the examination, he commended the effective teaching of the lecturers who went all out to ensure the students understand the subject matter thoroughly and encouraged them to practice regularly.  He continued: “The lecturers are very experienced and well-versed with the subjects.  Having been tutored by these lecturers, it is hardly surprising that TAR University College has built a strong track record in providing excellent professional business education.  I am very pleased to have achieved what my seniors had attained in the past and be part of the legacy of excellence.”

Apart from the excellent academic teaching that he received, he also found the facilities and infrastructure at TAR University College to be top-notch that enhanced the learning experience.  “The library is well-equipped with different kinds of reference books which help to strengthen our knowledge and broaden our thinking.  Besides that, there is the state-of-the-art Cyber Centre housing about 300 computer terminals where we can do our research work.  TAR University College also provides various sports facilities for us to have a balanced life while studying.”

This bright, young lad currently works as an auditor in one of the ‘big four’ accounting firms.  His goal for the future is to become a successful entrepreneur and to contribute and improve the welfare of the society however much he can.

Ee Chern’s achievement is a reflection of the quality of business education at TAR University College.  The University College is accorded the ACCA Platinum Status, which is the highest level of accreditation from ACCA to universities and colleges globally under the ACCA’s Approved Learning Partner – Student Tuition programme.  This recognition is awarded based on the performance of TAR University College students who excel in the ACCA external examination and surpass worldwide pass rates.  This puts TAR University College in the top 5% of ACCA tuition providers around the world.  The University College also has the distinction of being the first and only institution outside the UK and Ireland accorded the privilege to conduct the Internally Assessed ACCA Fundamentals (Skills Module) programme since 1987 that boasts of a much broader curriculum than that of ACCA.  The programme enables students to claim exemptions from 9 papers of ACCA Fundamentals and they are prepared to sit for the external Professional Level of the ACCA examinations.
