Step into the career of your dreams

StudyMalaysia shows students how to choose a career and decide on what to study in three simple steps!

Choosing a career and deciding on what to study at college or university is perhaps one of the most significant decisions students will make when they leave secondary school. While some may find the decision an easy one, the majority of students may feel a little lost in knowing where to begin in searching for a suitable career option.

On 7 October 2014, StudyMalaysia participated in “Hari Informasi Kerjaya Daerah Petaling Utama 2014”. During the fair, StudyMalaysia distributed the myCAREER Handbook to the participants of the event and explained how to use the handbook as a self-directed guide. About 2000 Forms 5 and 6 students from 26 schools attended the event along with more than 30 school counsellors.

The myCAREER Handbook contains three sections. Step 1 comprises four career survey activities that help students discover more about themselves. Step 2 guides the students on the things they need to consider when choosing a career and education options. Lastly, Step 3 helps the students make a decision based on their findings in the previous steps.

“This guide is developed for secondary school students, in particular those in Form 5, as an easy-to-use resource that helps students understand themselves better. The guide also gives students an overview of the careers in the working world and how to make a connection between their career interests and careers that are suited for them,” said Mr Tan Mui Hong, Executive Director of StudyMalaysia.
