APU Students Bag All Top 3 Awards at the E-Genting Bug Hunt 2014 and 2 Merit Awards at the E-Genting Programming Competition 2014!

Kuala Lumpur – Students of Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) achieved astounding success at the E-Genting Bug Hunt (EGBH) 2014

The competitions saw participation from Malaysian public and private universities. 6 students of APU took part in the Programming Competition, whereas 3 students participated in the Bug Hunt. Among 131 participants who attended the event, 2 APU students, Seyed Mohammad Daneshvar and Morrison Kho CuiZhi, stood out as the Merit Award winners and bagged RM200 cash each based on their outstanding performance at the written competition, which was held on the 8 November 2014. On the other hand, all 3 participants from APU who took part in the Bug Hunt emerged as the Top 3 winners at the competition, based on their brilliant software testing documents which were produced on the 5th of December 2014 at Wisma Genting. All 3 winners, Lee Chia Ping, Tan Wai Loong and Lai Wen Leong, are recent Software Engineering graduates of APU. Apart from the cash prizes of RM3,000, RM2,000 and RM1,000 respectively, the winners were also entitled to a job offer from E-Genting.

“The students have performed at a very high technical level which is a testament of the education they have received at APU via an in depth knowledge transfer process from the academicians based on industrial relevant curriculum. The potential that the IT based students have is very apparent as they constantly get hired by employers such as Genting Berhad who have high regard for the education process at APU,” said Prof. Dr. Ir. Vinesh Thiruchelvam, Dean of Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Technology (FECT), APU.

and E-Genting Programming Competition (EGPC) 2014 by bagging all the top 3 awards from the Bug Hunt, as well as 2 Merit Awards from the Programming Competition. The students walked away with over RM6,000 in cash prizes. The prize presentation ceremony was held on the 31 January 2015, at Hard Rock Café, Kuala Lumpur.
