Govt’s initiatives in developing talents will drive towards Vision 2020: DPM

KUALA LUMPUR: The government's numerous initiatives in supporting, developing and retaining talent will ensure a sustainable talent pool needed to drive the country towards Vision 2020.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that these initiatives served to equip students with soft skills and make them more acceptable to the job market.

Muyhiddin said these programs included the Management Apprentice Program (MAPS), Talent Acceleration in Public Service (TAPS) and the Scholarship Talent Attraction and Retention (STAR) programme.

"These programmes ensure that the talent sponsored by the government continue to contribute back to the country," he said at a presentation ceremony for the 2015 National Scholarships.

At the event, Muyhiddin, who is also Education Minister presented the country's top 50 students with offer letters for the 2015 National Scholarships.

The students excelled in the 2014 SPM and STPM examinations.
