8th Meducation tour to New Zealand

The 8th IMS Meducation Tour 2015 was another resounding success to 26 medical students of Management & Science University (MSU). The eight day seven night trip to New Zealand under the MSU Global Leadership Programme (GLP) took the participants through some fresh learning experiences The student’s trip also coincided with the the Summerz Endz Youth Festival (SEYF) 2015.

The festival was organized by the Canterbury Refugee Council, an NGO representing the local Bhutanese, Afghan, Kurdish, Ethiopian, Somalian and Eritrean refugee communities in New Zealand.

“SEYF 2015 gave us opportunity to perform our various Malaysia’s cultural dances such as Zapin, Inang and Tarian Kadazan. We also introduce Malaysia’s traditional games such as 'congkak', 'batu seremban' and 'ting ting' to the local community,” said Abd Halim Fiqri Ishak, the programme director.

The trip also took the students to the University of Melbourne (Australia), Cashmere High School, Tasman Glacier, Mount Cook, Tekapo Hotsprings, Skyline Luge, Walter Peak High Country Farm, AJ Hackett Bungy, University of Otago and the University of Canterbury.

The MSU Global Leadership Programme (GLP) is initiative of the university towards empowering students through international exposure activities. This exposure serves to complete the students’ development into competent and employable graduates.

The GLP is focused on the creation of leaders of tomorrow and developing a global mindset among students. It provides opportunities for students to enhance their learning experience and develop leadership and global skills. These skills are applied through their learning, volunteering and participation in activities conducted at the international or local level.
