ACCA’s Simpson Scholarship Fund 2016 is open for application

March 15, 2016 | Campus News

Kuala Lumpur – ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is inviting eligible students studying the ACCA Qualification to apply for the Simpson Scholarship Fund 2016, which is now open for application.

The Simpson Scholarship was named for Miss Muriel Simpson, a Fellow Member of ACCA who, in her Will, left her residuary estate to ACCA to fund a scholarship to be called the ‘Simpson Scholarship’.

Each year, the Fund will award five deserving ACCA students to receive the scholarship worth about GBP2000 (RM12,000) each, covering ACCA examination fees, annual student subscription fees, affiliate subscription fees, and membership admission fees.

Scholarship recipients will receive funding until ACCA membership is achieved or for a maximum of five years, whichever happens first. In addition, they will receive a set of learning materials from one of ACCA’s Approved Content Providers for each paper they are studying.

David Chin, head of ACCA Malaysia, said: “The Simpson Scholarship is one way ACCA rewards talented individuals who have great potential to achieve their career aspirations. They would have already proven themselves to be of sufficient merit and distinction in ACCA examinations. Thus, recipients of this scholarship will be relieved to focus on their studies without financial worries on their way towards being a chartered certified accountant.”

To be eligible for the Simpson Scholarship, applicants must already be a registered ACCA student who have completed the Knowledge module (papers F1-F3) of the Fundamentals level of the ACCA Qualification and have achieved an average grade of 80% or more.

Those who are exempted from the Knowledge module must have achieved 66% or more in at least two ACCA papers in the Fundamentals Skills module. For either criterion, only first attempt passes will be accepted.

Application for this scholarship will also include a written essay with the title ‘How the award of a Scholarship will help me to realise my full potential’, in not more than 1,000 words.

ACCA students keen to apply for this funding can do so online at www.accaglobal.com/scholarship. Closing date for all applications is 29 April 2016.
