Celebrating a Night of Art, Culture and People at First City University College

International Students from First City UC show their unique traditional costume which represents their country.

PETALING JAYA, 26 October 2017- First City University College’s international community was gathered together in unity and harmony at its International Night 2017, showcasing the diverse cultural backgrounds and internationalism ranging from China to MENA countries.

It was a colourful night with First City UC’s international students and staff having a blast, dressed in their respective traditional costumes.

Delivering his opening speech, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mak Chai said, “The presence of international students in First City UC has always been the impetus to developing our campus culture as one of openness, cohesiveness and mutual understanding. Besides, it is a signature of quality education, which showcases the elements of international character and global citizenship right at our door step”.

Explaining the objective of International Night, Student Affairs and Services Department Head Ms Florence Kuek said that the event aims to enhance the understanding of these various international cultures, traditions, arts and values.

She emphasised that this event seeks to bring together students from different nationalities and ethnicities where everyone can respect and appreciate one another as a way to strengthen the bond of friendship amongst the staff and students.

With the theme, “A Night of Art, Culture and People”, participants were treated to a display of different cultural and art performances, fashion show and desserts from various international countries.

First City Corporation Director Y Bhg Tan Sri Dato’ Teo Chiang Liang is sharing the different culture force in First City UC with the guests.

The event which is held biennially at First City UC was attended by First City Corporation Director Tan Sri Dato (Dr) Teo Chiang Liang, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mak Chai, Chief Operating Officer Ms Yeong Yin Cheng and First City UC staff and students. Representatives from foreign embassies who graced the event include, Madam Ghaniya Abdul Ghafour (Deputy Ambassador, Maldives Embassy), Ms Mariyam Fazeela(2nd Secretary, Maldives Embassy), Mr Muhammad Bello (Senior Counsellor, Nigerian High Commission, Mr Chirantha Randima (Consular, Sri Lanka High Commission, Mr. Amin Alhamdani (Cultural Counsular, Yemeni Embassy).
