In conjunction to LIS Open Day 2017, the Principal of Labuan International School, Pn Zainab Batin announces that LIS will offer Dual Certification IGCSE World-Class Cambridge Upper Secondary Curriculum with SPM of Malaysian Curriculum to Upper Secondary Students commencing 2018.

Labuan International School hosted Open Day, Charity Food Fair for LIS Foundation, Child Psychology Talk and Expressive Arts Workshop conducted by Dr Azizah Abdullah (KB, PA), a registered counsellor and expert in expressive arts therapy from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) for teachers and parents on 4 November, last Saturday.

Labuan International School has been approved as a full Cambridge Centre by Cambridge International Examination to offer its world-leading Cambridge programme since August 2012.

The Cambridge programme for students aged 11 to 19 is made up of three stages - Cambridge Primary, Cambridge Lower Secondary and Cambridge Upper Secondary – giving students a clear path for educational success. Each stage combines a world-class curriculum, high-quality support for teachers and integrated assessment.

Cambridge Upper Secondary leads to Cambridge IGCSE, the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds.

Every year, nearly a million students from 10000 schools in 160 countries prepare for their future with Cambridge programmes and qualifications. Success with Cambridge often gives students admission to the world’s best universities – in the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, Germany and beyond.

Expressive Art Workshop

Pn Zainab Batin, the School Principal said: “Malaysian students who enrol for International Curriculum are now given the opportunity to also take Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia or 2 in 1 Assessment Programme”. Other than that they are also given the opportunity to obtain International Certificate of Education in short Cambridge ICE Award for a balanced curriculum that is offered by Cambridge.

Labuan International School and its components (Sekolah Sri Labuan) have managed to merge International Curriculum with the National Curriculum especially ICT Starters, ICT Cambridge and Cambridge English. Students at LIS have been very lucky because LIS offers a premium curriculum which is not offered in other Schools in Labuan.
