Miri – 1 September 2018 – Students and graduates of Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia), as well as students from other institutions of higher learning and working adults looking to advance their careers, will get to meet representatives of leading employers from throughout Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore at the 2-day Curtin Internship & Placement 2018 on 5 and 6 September 2018.

They will be able to find out more about the companies, many of which are leading names in regional commerce and industry, and the career opportunities they offer, including internships, management programmes and part-time and full-time job placements.

Some of the employers will even conduct on-the-spot job interviews, so those attending are advised to bring along their resumés, cover letters, transcripts and other supporting documents.

Formerly known as the Curtin Malaysia Career Fair, the fair is being organised by the Career & Alumni Services section of Curtin Malaysia’s Department of University Life. It will be held in the university’s Recreation & Event Centre from 10 am to 4 pm on both days and admission is free.

Job-seekers can discuss career opportunities with potential employers during the fair.

Heading the list of participating employers this year are ACCA Malaysia, Confluence Contours, Crowe Malaysia, Ernst & Young, Infinity Abroad, Intel Technology, JobStreet.com, Keyence Malaysia, KPMG, Longi, OCIM, Out of the Box, PETRONAS, Shell Malaysia, Shimano Components Malaysia, Speedwing Malaysia, Teach for Malaysia, Top Glove, Western Digital and World Vision.

Confluence Contours senior executive for manpower planning Vivian Samson commended Curtin Malaysia for continuing to organise the fair and the impressive turnout of visitors over the years.

She also praised the university for producing top-notch graduates, saying that Confluence Contours, HR consultants for a Fortune 500 company dealing with GIS technology, has hired a number of Curtin Malaysia graduates who have proven to be among its most professional and productive employees.

Meanwhile, Lucy Kaba of Western Digital’s human resources department said the company is participating in the fair because it is looking for industrial trainees and fresh graduates with the passion to innovate and shape the future of data to join its dynamic team. Western Digital Corporation is the world’s largest data storage company with a leading portfolio of famous brands covering flash and disk-based solutions.

The Curtin Malaysia Internship & Placement Fair is one of the biggest events in Curtin Malaysia’s calendar of events and draws quite a large number of employers from both East and West Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei each year. For the participating organisations, it is an opportunity to promote their industries and businesses to a wider market, in addition to attracting potential employees in Miri and surrounding locations.
