October 27, 2022 | National News

Miri – 24 October 2021 – The School of Pre-U and Continuing Education (SPACE) at Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) is offering a new two-day short course in ‘Written Business English for Professionals’ on 28 and 29 October 2022.

The course is ideal for working professionals who would like to acquire skills in personalising and adapting their writing to cater to various stakeholders in line with current business practices.

Participants will be guided on the writing intricacies of various document types while being provided with hands-on practice and real time individual feedback.

They will learn to determine the purposes of business correspondence, identify reader needs and expectations, increase readability of written business communication, and identify elements of business writing in various document types.

Upon completion of the course, they will be able to adapt writing style and content to various document types to increase engagement with internal and external stakeholders, as well as define the key concepts associated with professional business writing.

They will also learn to apply key writing concepts and techniques, understand sources of miscommunication, and develop email netiquette skills. This will help them write effective business documents, recognise language and formatting errors when writing, and enhance their email netiquette skills.

The fee to participate in the course is RM2,000 per person, which is HRD Corp-claimable. The minimum qualification to join is SPM/MCE/SPVM.

The course will be conducted by Serina Doss, a highly-experienced language lecturer at SPACE. Her academic qualifications in Language Teaching and over 20 years’ experience in the field have helped a wide range of people.

Her sessions are highly interactive, engaging and purposefully crafted with the audience in mind. As a result, participants acquire a deeper sense of personalised experience while developing their written and verbal skills.

SPACE is a HRD Corp-approved training provider and offers SBL-Khas training programmes and tailor-made courses for companies and organisations, either on campus or at the clients’ facilities.
