Elevate Your Accounting Potential with leading edge AAT Accounting Studies

March 13, 2024 | Campus News

Mr. Timothy Dawkins, International Development Lead from AAT (UK) was in KL to give away AAT certificates and diplomas to more than 70 AAT graduates at Espira Kinrara, Puchong, Selangor. The graduates studied at SSTC (System & Skills Training Concept), the top Training Provider for Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualifications. Below is his speech to the AAT graduates, families, and friends during SSTC 4th Achievement & Award Ceremony.

“The AAT qualifications and assessments lead to the status of Accounting Technician, a role with increasing global recognition.   As well as these qualifications being a solid foundation to further accountancy, the AAT courses offer exemptions to further qualifications leading to Chartered Accountant status.

Across the world the AAT qualifications and the status of Accounting Technician (AT) are important to the accounting sector and to the business sector in general.

The importance of the Accounting Technician status and the importance of qualified bookkeepers is actively promoted by the International Federation of Accountants, the Pan Asian Confederation of Accountants, and the ASEAN Federation of Accountants.

We anticipate that the repeal of the Accountants Act will formally recognise the AT role in Malaysia through the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) Competency Framework.

The Accounting Technician role is seen as so important as it increases the overall supply of ‘professionalised’ accounts support staff in whom stakeholders can have increased trust and confidence; besides addressing specific scarcity of accountants, such as in the public sector or in developing countries.

AAT is the leading Professional Body for accounting technicians and is committed to supporting the sector as well as managing the quality of the qualifications and assessments. AAT also offers membership and CPD programmes to accounting professionals. We also spend time working with regional and national accounting bodies to recognise the importance of qualified accounting professionals. We are also committed to working with employers to ensure there is recognition in the business sector for qualified staff.

AAT have qualified members in 106 different countries and operating directly in 26 different countries and that number is growing every year. Our ambition is to grow our membership in the ASEAN region, offering regional support and advice as well as CPD and progression. We are planning increased engagement with employers through our work with the British Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia.”

More than 80,000 students study AAT annually worldwide. Join them to launch your accounting career. You may contact Ms. Pak Mei Yoke, Lead Trainer & Consultant at SSTC. SSTC is the leading and award-winning AAT Training Provider in Malaysia.
