Course Description

This programme provides students with a broad and fundamental understanding of computer science, programming and software engineering. This programme is developed in consultation with industry input to prepare students for one of the fastest growing professions today. The Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) is a three-year programme. It equips graduates with skills to be technically competent in the analysis, development and implementation of computer systems. Courses are delivered in a small-class environment through lectures, labs, tutorials and individual consultations. Case-study analysis and problem-solving approaches are adopted to enhance student learning.

Advanced Programming, Bahasa Kebangsaan A / B (National Language A / B), Calculus, Co-Curriculum I, Computer Architecture, Database Concepts, Discrete Structure, English for Effective Communication, Fundamentals Of Software Engineering, Interactive Skills, Introduction To Statistics, Pengajian Islam / Pendidikan Moral (Islamic Studies / Moral Studies), Programming Fundamentals, Technical & Professional Communication, Badminton / Futsal / Football / Netball

Year 2

Basic Entrepreneurship, Computer Graphics, Data Communication & Networking, Data Structure & Algorithms, Free Elective 1, Major Elective 1, Major Elective 2, Object Oriented Programming, Operating System, Pengajian Malaysia (Malaysian Studies), System Analysis & Design Methods

Year 3

Entry Requirements
STPM Minimum 2 principle passes with CGPA 2.00 and a C in Additional Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent
Diploma
  • A Diploma in Computer Science or Software Engineering or Information Technology or Information Systems or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.50 and a credit in Additional Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent
  • Candidates with CGPA below 2.50 but above 2.00 with a credit in Additional Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent may be admitted subject to a rigorous internal assessment process
  • Any other Diploma in science and technology with minimum CGPA of 2.50 may be admitted subject to a rigorous internal assessment process and a credit in Additional Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent
A-Level Minimum 2 Principal Passes and a C in Additional Mathematics at O-Level/SPM
UEC Minimum 5Bs (including Mathematics)
Foundation / Matriculation Minimum C
SAM/HSC/AUSMAT TER/UAI: average 60% or higher in 5 subjects (including Mathematics)
CPU/CIMP Average of 60% or higher in 6 subjects (including Mathematics)
IB 26 points or higher based on 6 subjects
Other Qualifications
  • Candidates without a credit in Additional Mathematics at SPM level or its equivalent may be admitted if the Diploma programme contains subjects in Mathematics that is equivalent to Additional Mathematics at SPM level
  • Candidates with a credit in computing related subject at SPM or STPM level or its equivalent may be given preferential consideration
