Background Of Institution

Imbued with the vision of its founder, AIMST aims to be a premier private university in the country and region catering to the needs of local and international students in providing quality technical education at an affordable price. The curricula for most of the degree programmes are drawn from the University of Bristol, U.K.

The components of the degree programmes are thoughtfully put together to provide a comprehensive teaching and learning experience for the students. We aspire to produce industry ready graduates capable of handling their work life confidently, be it work knowledge, communication skills and technology competence. Admission to the degree programmes requires the applicant to meet the prescribed minimal grades in the relevant subjects at the matriculation (local or overseas) level or possess other equivalent qualifications acceptable to AIMST University.

The medium of instruction for all courses is English, however, the importance of the National Language will be emphasized in all activities of the University. AIMST University will provide language support for students before and during their degree studies to ensure an acceptable level of fluency achieved.

Academic Facilities & Resources

AIMST University pledges to provide the best array of services and facilities to meet the discerning needs of our students. We have a range of specialist services ready to help and support them during their time with us. Our Student Affairs Officers will assist students in making arrangements for accommodation, transportation and even organise extracurricular activities for them. We also have a team of professionally trained Student Counsellors who are ever willing to assist students in handling any personal difficulties or problems. Students who require financial assistance may also contact the Student Affairs Division.

Diligent Security Officers help to ensure the safety of our students while the Student Health Clinic takes care of the students’ healthcare needs. Above all these, we have a strong team of support staff to ensure efficient and up-to-date learning facilities such as computer laboratories and a fast-growing library of books, journals and other resources for information retrieval. Our International Office is a one-stop centre catering to enquiries from international students, as AIMST University opens its door to students from the region and the rest of the world. With the services and facilities provided, we hope to create a cosy home-away-from-home environment for all our students and to provide the right atmosphere so that they can experience a lively, exciting and productive university life.

Facilities

AIMST is fully equipped with a full range of modern lifestyle as well as sports and recreational facilities for the comfort and convenience of our students. These encompass a state-of-the-art library, cafeteria, healthcare and IT facilities and specially designated prayer rooms for Muslim staff and students.

The Student Affairs Division

The Student Affairs Division is one of the crucial departments in the administration of the University. It deals with all matters concerning students; from student welfare to various aspects of student development.

Student welfare concerns accommodation, health, personal and financial problems, food and security. Student development includes the organising of and participating in activities of student clubs, associations, societies and sports and and cultural activities, debating, motivational and other similar activities by the student.

In addition, the division also endeavours to:

• enforce student discipline and ensure that the behaviour of students comply with the rules and regulations approved by the University's authorities;
• ensure the quality of service meets the needs of students.

Financial Aid

The Student Affairs Division assists students in obtaining financial aid for their courses through a number of agencies. Students may apply for the National Higher Education Student Loan Scheme (Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional - PTPTN) upon enrolment for a degree programme at AIMST, provided they possess a minimum of three credits in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).

AIMST offers students with excellent performance in the SPM discounts on tuition fees upon enrolment in our foundation programmes. The discount rate is based on the number of As obtained and could be as high as 100% of their tuition fees.

Counselling & Advisory Services Unit

An important unit under the umbrella of Student Affairs is the Counselling & Advisory Services Unit (CASU). Students who are overawed by life on campus may visit our experienced Counsellors who will assist them to cope with the intricacies and complexities of university life. CASU also organises career advancement seminars and services to assist students in their studies and prepare them for opportunities in industry
