Handy Lie, Indonesia

School of Hospitality, Tourism & Culinary Arts

Account Manager – Corporate Market, Hotel Atlet Century Park, Jakarta
I was seeking for a hospitality school which is well recognized with affordable tuition fees. Studying at Taylor’s and acquiring a French degree was something I could not resist at all. The valuable knowledge imparted from the highly qualified lecturers gave me the opportunity to strive better in the highly competitive hospitality industry. I stood out from the others in terms of my ability to think critically and complete challenging tasks.

Shaahid Ismail, Zimbabwe

School of Computing and IT

Graduate of RMIT Bachelor of Information Technology
Overall, I have found the staff here to be extremely professional, and the university to be a fun place to learn. The lecturers are very approachable, and have always provided me with the necessary guidance. I highly recommend Taylor’s School of Computing and IT to anyone interested in Computer Science and Information Technology.

Vyjayanthi

Centre for Continuing Professional Education

Executive Certificate in Event Management
Head of Business Development As head of business development, I’ve conducted a fair bit of events, but it’s usually been through a trial and error process. Through this course, I’ve learned how to organise events using a more systematic approach. This is very important since I plan to go into event management full-time in the future.”

Hamsa Amged (Low Inter) Iraq

Taylor’s Language Centre

Studying at TLC is interesting: The teachers are very nice, friendly and helpful. Malaysia is a modern country with many English speakers, so I am able to practise my English here. I believe that by practising English daily, one will pick up the language faster, just like how I am. I’m enjoying my studies at TLC very much!

Jolene Sim

Taylor’s Business School

Director, Mainstream Online Buzz
I think a good institution of higher learning would provide exposure and opportunities to facilitate growth for their students. Taylor’s Business School (TBS) definitely provided that for us.

During our time at TBS, we had the opportunity to join the Taylor's Business Plan Competition, entered a Delta Forum in HKUST Hong Kong, and were also sponsored to participate in the Maybank Money Tree Young Entreprenuer Startup Challenge (which eventually led to us forming our own company even before we graduated). So it wasn't just academic education, it was very much academic and practical (provided you take the opportunities provided to you).

For me, TBS has indeed grounded me for the working world as well as provided countless opportunities to live a fulfilling and fun university life.

Ivan She Sai Hoe

School of Computing and IT

Graduate of RMIT Bachelor of Computer Science
This programme is well structured and has given me a solid foundation. Various types of workshops and talks organised by the school have helped me broaden my knowledge. There are also a number of professional certification opportunities such as Oracle and SAP that ensures students of Taylor’s School of Computing and IT will be highly qualified and sought after.

Christopher Chew Mun Kit

School of Engineering

Engineering at Taylor’s is cool because learning takes place beyond the classroom. Students are challenged to think and innovate through many projects, thus making us more active and independent learners and give us the opportunity to experience what it would be like in the real working world.

Joni Ong Ker Shing

Taylor’s School of Architecture, Building and Design

Taylor’s University provides a conducive study environment where I am able to excel academically and maximise my potential. The lecturers are highly proficient in their respective fields and constantly encourage us to progress. At Taylor’s University, the course syllabus is well-designed and organised, which allows me to explore ideas clearly and widely. With a varied mixture of students both local and international, I have gained a broader circle of friends, which adds colours to my social life. It has boosted my confidence to achieve my dream to become an architect. Organised school activities have also been rather exciting and constructive at the same time.

Louis Poh

School of Medicine

"I was a very quiet person before. But after three months, I found myself turning into a very talkative person. To give an example, for our integrated science project on the topic Fruit Batteries and Its Potential, I learned to overcome my panic and fear of giving presentations. My communication and presentation skills have improved tremendously and I've become good at persuasion and debates. Doing this course also taught me to manage my time properly, do research work, increase my computer literacy and brush up on my practical skills. These skills gave me the confidence to face difficult times like sitting for exams. To manage my time, I prepare a timetable for myself and discipline myself to follow it in order to complete my to-do list. I am very happy to have improved myself in many areas and to learn so many things in this course."

Leonard Leao Xi Long

School of Communication

It was not an easy decision. There was a lot of compromise between what I wanted and what my parents thought was best for me. My final decision was based on the subjects offered, cost and the fact that this degree is widely recognized. What I studied deals with a wide range of areas, such as advertising, broadcasting, journalism and marketing. I learn everything from writing feature stories to creating promotional materials and editing video. This course gives me the knowledge to be an all-rounder in whatever field I choose to work in. I also find it exhilarating to try new things and win some goodies along the way. I have participated and won awards in several competitions e.g. BMW Shorties, Media One Asia MyLifeMyWay, Filmmaker Annonymous and Kancil Awards. I know I made the right decision to study this course because I have never experienced so much creative freedom and I could not be happier.

Teoh Yun Kit

School of Biosciences

I’ve always had an interest in biological sciences and studying in Taylor’s has been fun, exciting and engaging! I have gained a better understanding of how living things function – every living thing is a complete yet mysterious piece of working machinery. I enjoyed subjects like Virology, Microbiology and Immunology.

This course is perfect for me to channel my passion and develop my creativity. Simply put, interior design is the heart and soul of space. Through this course, I learn various aspects of how to create liveable and beautiful interior spaces that satisfy the needs of the people using them. I have discovered the levels of thought and depth it takes and the long hours required to achieve a profound design. Taylor’s rocks because of its people! I get to meet so many new people who touch my life in many ways, big and small. It is the people that give this place life and colour. I have participated in the Malaysian Society of Interior Designers (MSID) Satu, Tiga Belas and Empat Belas competitions, where design students from various institutions get to meet and inspire each other through exciting activities and challenges. In the future, I would love to work with famous and inspiring designers such as Karim Rashid.

I am glad I picked Taylor’s and the University of Reading as my choice because both institutions are highly respected and established. I am impressed with the structure of the course, the way in which it is assessed and also the flexibility that comes with building my own law degree to suit my interests and needs.

Mathieu Lernaitre, France

Taylor’s Graduate School

Assistant Researcher, Taylor’s Toulouse University Centre
The research dimension of this programme has definitely been my greatest challenge, to which it was also the most fascinating and exciting subject. Within two years, I specialised in the study of event tourism, and I have met a team of lecturers and peers from all over Asia, Europe and Middle East, who I found to be significantly helpful in my learning process. Today, that interest, the conducive and rewarding learning environment has given a will to pursue a PhD in Social Economics.

Louis Hu, China

School of Hospitality, Tourism & Culinary Arts

IBIS China Management Trainee
ACCOR Group – Greater China

I chose School of Hospitality, Tourism & Culinary Arts because of its recognition in the field of hospitality study, as well as its collaboration with a reputable French university which is the University of Toulouse. The well balanced of practical and theoretical courses really helped me to be an all-rounder at the end of my study. The programme also equipped students with adequate hands on experience on the operation side, which serves as an advantage for fresh graduates.

It was exciting to be exposed to mock trial sessions. In five week I learnt so much - drafting, conducting research, interacting with real clients, networking and summarizing regulations.

Aminath Samah Abbas, Maldives

Taylor’s Graduate School

Product Manager, Villa Hotels Maldives
The most important skill that I learned is how a manager thinks in the hospitality industry. Today, I know how to manage large complex objectives. All I need to do is break them down into smaller manageable goals. The programme has inspired me and given me what it takes to be a bold and creative business leader. I am sure that I will be able to make positive and valuable contributions to business performance in every role I take on.

Jonathan Adam, Indonesia

School of Hospitality, Tourism & Culinary Arts

System Engineer, HRS Marketing Pvt. Ltd. Singapore
Taylor’s University School of Hospitality, Tourism & Culinary Arts (TCHT) was the first school to offer a degree and now even the only school in Malaysia to offer programmes up till Master and PhD, thus I see TCHT as a trustable school to study at. I love the study environment at Taylor’s and the lecturers were very helpful. The programme is well-designed to equip us with basic knowledge of the hotel industry as well as communication skills, which is very important in any fields of work. Working in the IT industry now, I am able to apply my servicing, operation and communication skills in I’ve learnt from my hospitality studies.

Bala Myrali Nanda

Taylor’s Graduate School

Project Consultant,
Royal Kingdom of Swaziland

Pursued my Masters with the goal of upgrading my qualifications, but I’ve gained much more through avaluable experience at Taylor’s. The opportunities to meetand work with different people from around the world have broadened my horizons and given me useful exposure. One of my favourite subjects was Hotel and Foodservice Engineering, which enhanced my knowledge in the development, production and technological issues related to running a hotel or food service chain.

Christine Teo Yi Jia

School of Biosciences

I chose to study biomedical science because I am interested in how other organisms are used in human research, as well as how our body works from a molecular aspect. I enjoy practical classes the most because I get to perform experiments hands-on and not just study theories which can get boring sometimes. My favourite hangout on the campus is the library which oversees the lakeside.

Zareena Sameen, Phillipines

Taylor's School of Communication
Pursuing journalism studies at Taylor's is preparing me well to achieve my goal of becoming a broadcast journalist in the entertainment industry. I am learning important skills such as interviewing sources, reporting on events and writing for news. One day I hope to be an anchor or host of a television entertainment news show, reporting on major events and talking to famous people. I enjoy my classes because the lecturers are good at making the subject matter interesting. Instead of just throwing information at us, they use relevant examples, share their experiences and even add in humour to help us understand the subject matter.
